Why You Need to Invest in Video and Visual Assets in Your Content Marketing Strategy Going Forward


And suddenly, it’s February!

Time just doesn’t move slowly anymore does it? I believe that’s increasingly true with the digitization of our lives and our businesses.

Our mobile devices are literally extensions of ourselves. It’s not a good or a bad thing, it’s just part of how we’re evolving as humans.

We’re all spending more time on our devices, interfacing and sharing our lives with each other. We’re in closer connection with each other than ever before but as a result, the days seem to streak by they’re going so fast!

Consider this as you continue to consider and create ideas around catching your target customer’s (avatar’s) attention while they’re doing their thing, living online.

I can’t help but look at it like I would navigating a stretch of whitewater on a river.

First of all, you need to scout the rapid (the unknown) from the (known and safe) vantage point of the riverbank. This is how to best figure out the right approach (or line) to get through it. (Sorry, ex-river guide here, I have a tough time not using the river in many analogies).

Next, you have to leave the security and comfort of the banks of the river and get into the current. Cold? Yes! Uncomfortable? Yes! But kind of fun? YES!

Then, you need to charge that line you committed to choosing through the rapid, keeping in mind that the water’s moving fast and you must act and react fast too in order to make it through.

It’s the same with engaging your very busy, very connected avatar.

 You have to figure out who that person is and where they frequent online. Then, position amazing, relevant content right where they are. Make sure that the content is no strings attached whenever possible and that it makes your avatar better. You have to do this consistently to build trust too, by the way, and in varied formats, more on that below.

Then, you have to just go for it! Get in the game! Mix it up, flip the raft, recover, climb back in. Run it again, nail the line and punch the hole shot!

The master class was part of the month-long training theme I offered here at Intrepid. I wanted to give you four weeks of solid training and insights focused on attracting, connecting with and engaging new fans and customers through content marketing. I thought that was a solid topic to kick off with because we’d have a heck of a time building profitable and remarkable businesses without a growing customer base. Agree?

February’s free trainings and master class will focus on making you more of a ninja with video and visual assets. This topic is prioritized because, well, it has to be. You just can’t run or hide from the fact that your avatar, I don’t care who he or she is, prefers to learn visually at least part of the time (more often than that, actually).

Also, it’s important to keep this statistic in mind:

“By 2017, 74% of all Internet traffic will be video.” (Source: Syndacast). You need to invest in this to be where your avatar is going forward.

I created this months training especially for the amazing people in my Intrepid Entrepreneur community. I know there are many in this crew who can’t stand the thought of starring in a brand video or going anywhere near a live stream.

If that’s you, it’s important that you show up to February’s trainings with an open mind (and know I’m right there with you). But we have to get there and we can do this together. Consider this quote as one of the many reasons by:

Business today is going through a continual digital evolution. Our customers are very much online researching what they want to buy, engaging with brands and sharing what they love with like-minded friends. When done well, your content marketing gets the attention of your ideal customers (avatar) and fans, brings them through a journey of discovery and ideally leads to conversion. When a fan becomes a customer, we’ve achieved something remarkable!

Remember my Intrepid blog post titled “Customers want to date you before they buy”? It talks about how your content is how your customers date you. Hey, no one wants to just jump in and get married without some kind of “get to know you” phase, right?
