It’s that time of year again, a time to give thanks for the amazing lives we lead and the opportunities that are available to us. I recently stumbled across this excellent read from Laszlo Bock SVP, People Operations at Google and his analytics team, titled, “Two minutes to make you happier at work, in life … and over the holidays.”
According to Laszlo and Google, “it turns out that an ‘attitude of gratitude’ is way more powerful than just saying ‘thanks.’ Expressing gratitude makes you happier, and may even make you live longer.”
This article really made me think about what I am thankful for and how I can express this better. I am very thankful for many things in my life, including my amazing team, and what I have to look forward to in 2015. We should all take this into consideration when planning for 15 in 2015! #15in2015
What captured my attention is how happiness is studied and that they gave a prescription for happiness.
“Shawn’s prescription? Take two minutes each day to express your gratitude. For example:
- Write down three new things for which you’re grateful, or
- Spend two minutes each day praising or thanking a person you know, and
- Commit to doing it for 21 days.”
